> Hello Reuben,

> first I want to introduce me: My name is Bernhard Sgoda and I'm on the search for my ancestors. By chance I found the dates below on your page. I know that the name Zgoda changed (between 1819 an 1866) to Sgoda, before Zgoda it was even Zrzoda (changed between 1767 and 1771) but that i can't prove. My latest documented fact is Johann Sgoda, born August 1857 in Bergen, Strasburg. About his father I only get information by my father, that he was born round about 1834 in Schweingrube, Kreis Stuhm and that his profession was fisher at the Weichsel. I don't know his first name and the date of birth. But because the name Z(S)goda is very rare, I'm rather sure that the people in the list belong to my ancestors. I only have to find the missing links.

> If you have the time to look for detailed informations of these people below, you would help me very much. If you have any costs, please let me know. I'm waiting for your reply.

Sorry that I did not have all the information for you but on some entries they took several pages and because of the vastness of this project I only copied the name page.  I am working on a huge map project of South Prussia right now listing over 10,000 town names and want to get it done before German from Russia convention in July.

If this land registry has been helpful in finding your ancestors,  please express your appreciation by helping others find their ancestors by helping us obtain another land registry from the 18th century.  Thus, I want to invite you to contribute to the fund for obtaining the 1793 land registry of South Prussia. Please read the following paragraphs for detailed information.

I am providing additional information on the WP land registry posted on the Pixel/Odessa files and names from the Netze file as a free service.  But I am  also asking  you to consider joining in creating a fund that would provide needed money to obtain the 1793 South Prussian land registry.

South Prussia is the territory created by the second partition of Poland and covered the area south of the Netze District on the north, continuing to the east on the southern side of the Vistula river to the 20th degree.  On the southwestern border it proceeded from the Brandenburg border to the Silesian border and continued east to the Pilica river until it meets the Vistula river south of Warsaw.

The South Prussian land registry of 1793 will cost us $10,000.00-$12,000.00 .

It has over 3,000 towns and each town will average 4-6 pages.  So if you want to see a document from a later time than the 1772 land registry this is such a document.  This is an opportunity that has possibilities for many of us who cannot locate our ancestors in the Netze and South Prussian area.  I am willing to contribute about $1,000.00 myself but my resources run out at that point.

It should be noted that the 1793 land registry is a restricted file in Warsaw and you and I would be not be able to view it.  Our researcher has developed connections in the archive, is a Polish citizen, and has Ph. D. in History which assists him in gaining access to the ancient archive in Warsaw.  If you can help in this endeavor please let me know.

ps. Make checks out to me. Contributions will be placed into a special genealogical account. Anyone making a contribution will receive information on their surnames free after the information is extracted.  Because of the expense of this document a fee will probably need to be charged for look-up of names for  non-contributors.  Let me know. Thanks.
